Cyber Safety

The Internet is without a doubt one of the best resources available to us. Unfortunately it's also extremely dangerous if you aren't aware of who and what lurks behind the scenes. Everyone should know how to be safe when surfing the web, but internet safety tips and tricks are spread out all over the web without a go-to resource. Since the majority of internet scam and virus victims are students and young people, Open Colleges is a perfect place to post the very first full guide to being safe on the internet.
Cyber Bullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner.
Identity theft is a form of stealing someone's identity in which someone pretends to be someone else by assuming that person's identity
While there are many ways for your identity to get stolen, the easiest way to become a victim of identity theft is by sharing personal information over the internet. If you aren't careful, criminals could steal your identity by finding any of the following:
Social Security Number
Credit Card Information
Bank Account Number
Personal Identification
(driver's license, passport, etc.)
Stolen Passwords

An experience in Chandigarh Children's Literary Fest 2017

On 14th and 15th december I went to the chandigarh childrens literary fest and saw some books by Indian author. the books were good, and some of them were very inspirational.
The authors were of different places and different regions from India, but their books and stories reflected the thinking and unity of india. i really liked some of the books, be it an inspirational or a fictional one. I would like to mention a few of them
  • Shoot Dive Fly- this is the book i liked the most. it contains 21 real stories of army men and their bravery. the forward for this book is written by M.S. Dhoni, who himself is an army officer. it is a really inspiratonal book and a must to read for young readers.
  • Horrid High- this book contains the story of a boy who accidentally lands up in horrid high, the world's most horrid school with spookiness in its castles. this books becomes more exciting and tense as you read on. it is an awesome fiction for young readers.
  • What Maya Saw- this book is the story of a brilliant girl maya, who is bored by her life and wants something exciting. but when she goes to a summer school, she sees spooky, dangerous creatures lurking amidst them. what more, she is the only one to see them. how will she fight these creatures alone. read to find. very good.
Such literary fests are very good for young minds to get nourished. there are story telling sessions and books, waiting to get read. so, such sessions must be attended by children.

Water supply and sanitation

Clean water and sanitation is a human right. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives.
The world’s water resources are under increasing pressure due to intensive farming, increasing population, and political tensions. This situation is exacerbated by climate change and environmental degradation.
Poor disposal of human and household waste encourages vermin and insects to thrive, and water and food become contaminated. Water-related diseases cause the death of 3.5 million people every year, and many children die before the age of five from diseases caused by drinking dirty water and living in unsanitary conditions.
So, trying a bit to help against this, we need to work for the society, because we are brothers and sisters indeed

The last drop: water

Water. What is it? is it only a resource? or a scientific element? In my point of view, water is actually more than that. It has inspired poets for years. It has given life to each and every living thing.
worship or wastage?
But we have been only wasting it. Everywhere water is wasted. Be it in shops, or at anyone's home. So, to know about water conservation and get ideas for my youth leader project, I went to meet

Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation Research Centre
Dr. Pankaj Panwar, scientist at Indian Institute for Soil and Water Conservation Research Centre. Sir told me various ways by which we can conserve water. He told us that water conservation is of two types-

  • ·       In Situ
  • ·       Ex Situ

In situ is when the water is directly conserved at its precipitation. For eg- Drenches, Plantation etc.
Sir told that ex situ conservation is good. He gave the example of sukhna lake, which is also based on ex situ conservation.

So, I went to Sukhna Lake. but i found out that the lake too, with the passage of time is getting polluted. But the efforts of people like Dr. Pankaj have kept the lake alive.

FINDING JOY IN EVERY ASPECT

Finding joy in every aspect.

I was just going through my photos in my laptop when i came up with a photo of me and my friends. After a great deal of thinking, I was not able to think that why we were so laughing .Actually, I concluded that didn't know when I laughed last.

Most of us, in our daily life, never take the effort to laugh. In our daily busy life we hardly have time for anything. even most of the smiles smiled by people are fake. don't know about it? check this link -http://www.nicolasfradet.com/smile-body-language/

hey, but now i remember! i clearly remember why we were laughing. for nothing.
we were just enjoying ourselves in our recess period in our beautiful Tribune Model School. (Chandigarh, India)

well it's not a no good laugh. we used to give some time in our day, cracking jokes and laughing.

it used to give us a fresh mood ( it still does! ) and prevent us from a serious problem -
sadness.
i remember one incident when one of my good friend was sitting at the corner of our ground. his head was bent, and he was in a really really bad mood. we went there with our gang. assuming the reason of this problem, we understood why he was acting like this. his marks in the test were not good.
well i could have done nothing, cause my marks were better. so i pointed to another boy of our class, running frantically with a football and he came and said,"why are you crying then? failing is not bad at all." he also gave a full form for fail. i wanna share it with you-

F- First
A-Attempt
I-In
L-Learning

i just wanna say that every coin has two sides. similarly, each problem has two views- positive and negative. so, we should look at the positive side of it. i would also like to mention a paragraph from poem gaining victory by sue faulkner wood-

Instinctively I reached out to joy
Laughter felt so delicious inside.
As it rippled through my body,
Bringing its healing tide.
I’ve learned to love each day
Even the dark side and strife
For hidden within the heartache
Is a seed of renewal, called life.

and now, after listening to my talk i want you to do one thing
smile with a bright face.
